Breathing is something we’ve been doing every day and since we were born.
Most of us are doing it wrong..GASP! (LOL)
There are two types of breathing – Shallow (or Chest) and Deep (or Abdominal).
Most people who breathe shallowly do it throughout the day and are almost always unaware of the condition.
Shallow is when our chest moves up and out, filling mostly only the top part of the lungs. Deep is when our stomach moves out as our diaphragm expands downwards, filling all of the lungs.
The correct and more effective way is long, slow, deep diaphragmatic breathing – Filling the bottom of the lungs, which have more surface area contact with blood, and giving less stress to the cardiac region.
Experts estimate that proper breathing helps your body eliminate toxins 15 times faster than poor, shallow breathing. You’ll not only be healthier, but you’ll be able to perform better (mentally and physically) and, of course, be less stressed and more relaxed.
So there you go…something you may or may not have known.
